Permit Technician II

Under direction of the Building Official, performs a wide variety of complex public assistance tasks and duties involving the processing and issuance of various permits for the City; coordinates permit reviews with other local, County, City, State and Federal agencies. Handles customer inquiries and complaints; provides permit related information to customers; organizes and maintains related records and reports.

$4,500 – $6,100 month DOQ

BA or equivalent from a four year college or university with a degree in public administration or related field with three (3) years of experience working as a certified permit tech for a governmental agency or like capacity.

Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the job duties will be considered.

Permit Tech ICC Certification and Permit Specialist Certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.  

Must be bondable. Must be notary public or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Public Works Construction Inspector

Under the supervision of the Public Works Construction Supervisor, this position provides oversight and inspection of infrastructure associated with  residential developments and commercial developments as well as the  City’s capital improvement projects for streets, water, sanitary sewer, storm water, parks and other public works projects from issuance of construction permits to completion and final approval by the City.

This position also assures construction conforms with the contract drawings and specifications; assures work quality and materials used are in conformance with approved plans, specifications and City standards; maintains records and prepares reports pertaining to projects inspected; coordinates construction activity with contractor, City staff, and franchise utilities; assists other departments and performs other related work and duties as assigned.

The principal duties of this position are performed in an outdoor environment and may involve exposure to adverse weather conditions and related hazards. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends based on project demands and requirements.

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school plus five (5) years of municipal infrastructure construction experience or any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Maintenance Worker – Seasonal

We are accepting applications for Seasonal Maintenance Workers for the Public Works Department.  Job duties include trimming and mowing lawns, replacing, repairing and installing water and sewer mains, routine repair and maintenance of facilities, patching streets, painting crosswalks, cleaning and burning debris in rights-of-way, routine maintenance of storm drainage facilities, and litter patrol.

Full time Monday – Friday.
Starting wage is $13.50 per hour.

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and 18 years of age.  Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and perform manual activities for sustained periods of time under adverse weather conditions.
