With guidance and recommendation from the Washington State Department of Health – Office of Drinking Water, the City of West Richland recommends owners of any building or structure that has been vacant or lightly used due to the COVID-19 pandemic conduct a planned restart of water use in their facility to avoid exposure to Legionella and other pathogens.  The planned restart should follow Department of Health guidance.  It is recommended that the building’s water system be flushed and tested in accordance with Department of Health guidance.

The  City’s water system has continued to function correctly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and water users and building managers are advised that the water quality delivered to their facilities meets all state and federal water quality standards.  West Richland’s water utility staff remains available to address questions and concerns of its residents and building managers.
