West Richland’s Public Works crews have shifted away from snow plowing and sanding operations to patching potholes on Collins Road and other local roadways. Extended freeze and thawing cycles and excessive moisture are not a good combination for roadways. Fixing potholes when it’s cold is not ideal, but the temporary patches help prevent further roadway deterioration and vehicle damage. After the weather warms and local asphalt plants resume production this spring, the city crews will be installing permanent patches. Residents are encouraged to use alternative routes and avoid use of Collins Road near the intersection of Bombing Range Road, if possible.
