City Government

West Richland is governed by a Strong Mayor or Mayor Council form of government. Within this structure, citizens elect City Council Members and the Mayor. The Mayor serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City and is in charge of all departments and staff within the City. Because the position is not full time, day to day operations of the City are handled by the City Administrator. With a staff of just under 50, and a population of approximately 11,000, the City is working to meet the challenges and demands of a growing community. Citizens play a vital role, serving on advisory committees and providing elected officials much valued input.
