Public Works Construction Supervisor

Under the supervision of the City Engineer, this position provides management of City inspection staff, oversight and inspection of infrastructure associated with residential developments and commercial developments as well as the City’s capital improvement projects for streets, water, sanitary sewer, storm water, parks and other public works projects from issuance of Pre-Construction Meeting to completion and final approval by the City.

This position also assures construction conforms with the contract drawings and specifications; assures work quality and materials used are in conformance with approved plans, specifications and City standards; maintains records, prepares and reviews reports pertaining to projects inspected; coordinates/schedules construction activity with contractor, City/Inspection staff, and franchise utilities; assists other departments and performs other related work and duties as assigned. The principal duties of this position are performed in an office and outdoor environment and may involve exposure to adverse weather conditions and related hazards.

Monday – Friday
Exempt/40 hrs week
$5,000 – $7,500 per month

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two (2) year college or technical school or ten (10) years of municipal infrastructure construction experience with two (2)  years of management/supervisory responsibilities. Any combination of education and experience may be considered as long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential function of the position.

Seasonal Maintenance Workers

We are accepting applications for Seasonal Maintenance Workers for the Public Works Department.  Job duties include trimming and mowing lawns, replacing, repairing and installing water and sewer mains, routine repair and maintenance of facilities, patching streets, painting crosswalks, cleaning and burning debris in rights-of-way, routine maintenance of storm drainage facilities, and litter patrol.

Position is 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Term can be 6+ months.  Starting wage is $13.50 per hour.

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. 18 years of age.  Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and perform manual activities for sustained periods of time under adverse weather conditions.  Pre-employment drug test and criminal background check is required.
