[ARCHIVED] SR 224 RED MOUNTAIN IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

Project Description:

After an analysis of current and forecasted needs for the Red Mountain Area, the City of West Richland and the Washington State Department of Transportation have identified improvements to the SR224 corridor.  These improvements would be an effective investment to address the growing needs in the Red Mountain area.

The project would improve traffic operations for vehicles, add active transportation facilities for bicycles and pedestrians, and improve intersections within the SR224 corridor.   This will reduce the risk of crashes for all modes of transportation.  It will allow for safer use by all along the route as it sees increased usage due to current and forecasted growth in the area.

These proposed improvements, along with the completed local investments, will provide the infrastructure needed to address future access and capacity needs and ensure residential, commercial and industrial growth continues in the West Richland and surrounding Red Mountain area.
