West Richland City Council Position #6 is now vacant and the City is seeking a temporary replacement to fill the seat until the general election in November 2017. In order continue to serve beyond that date, the individual appointed to this position must be willing to file for election with the Benton County Auditor in 2017 and be elected by the voters of West Richland for the remaining two years of the term ending December 31, 2019.
The City of West Richland operates under a strong Mayor form of government and the City Council is comprised of seven at-large members. Council Members are part-time, nonpartisan elected officials whose main tasks are adopting and overseeing the City’s annual budget, introducing legislation, setting city policy and giving advice and consent on appointments made by the Mayor to city boards and commissions. The West Richland City Council meets the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. with occasional special meetings and workshops. Council Members receive compensation of $500 per month, plus a $50 monthly vehicle allowance.
Applicants must be a resident of the City of West Richland for at least one (1) year and be registered voter.
